Falling in Love With Your Life

Gratitude helps you fall in love with the life you already have.

***Says it louder for the people in the back!*** G-R-A-T-I-T-U-D-E!!

Gratitude is something I practice daily.  I do this within the first 30 min of waking.  I wake up, brush my teeth, put on my robe & slippers then I shuffle into my office to grab my gratitude journal. It's just a simple one I found at Michaels crafts-with a coupon of course :)  ( Side note: I just spent 30 min online searching for it but I can't find it on their site or Amazon any longer) Anyway, it's simple-it's just a space for the date and 3 lines numbered 1-3. You fill in the date and then on each line write something you are grateful for. There is something about this practice that really doesn't allow you to have bad days....bad moments- yes. Bad days?..Nope!

When you get yourself in the practice of being thankful it's hard not to feel more at peace and blessed. It can be things like your family, friends, etc. but also things like clean air, your health, fresh drinking water..anything! It's important to us as humans to maintain a grateful heart not just for the big and fabulous things- but the small little things we take for granted.

Need proof?

How many times do you express that you are grateful for electric?   Yet when you lose power in a bad storm you are frustrated and keep trying to turn on the light when you walk into a room?  It's things like that that we need to also include when expressing gratitude because it's not just the light switch working when you flip it- it's that you have electric, the financial means to afford it, a place to call home that requires electric.  Get it?

Not to mention; gratitude seems to multiply the more you take time to be grateful!

You don't need a specific journal or fancy book for this- just grab a notebook and build a habit of being grateful for 3-5 specific things each day.  This is also a great exercise to get your kids involved with too!
